The Kiphire District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was successfully conducted at Deputy Commissioner's Office conference hall, Kiphire on August 13. Minister for Soil & water Conservation, Geology & Mining, Kashiho, who is the DPDB Chairman, presided the Board meeting.
Giving the status report of the road condition along the NH 202, EE National Highway, Nilavizo said “work is progressing well, however, due to continuous downpour, some area are hampered.”
A DIPR report also added that Kiphire Roads & Bridges department stated that road at Meluri sub division is blocked again but in order to clear the blockage, the Department has deployed man power and JCBs, and the road will be cleared soon. “There is still shortage of essential commodities in Kiphire district and if rain continue to pour down the situation will be worse,” the report added.
Kiphire SDO (C) Reny Wilfred also informed the house that Kiphire is still facing shortage of essential commodities as it is unable to procure goods from Dimapur. He informed that a minimum 1500 bags of rice is needed to tackle emergency situation that might arise.
SDO Kiphire, Longdiba informed the board that a truck load of essential commodities has reached Kiphire district, provided by the Supply Department. The District Administration also informed the house that at least 1000 bags of rice is needed to be stocked for the district.
Minister Kashiho while addressing the meeting directed the Department of Food & Civil Supply to “keep essential commodities in stand in the event of any emergency that might arise.” The Minister said that he is making efforts so that roads are open to commuters at the earliest. He is also making sure that supply of essential is not hampered at any cost, for which he asked the support of the Department of Food & Civil Supply.
DPDB discusses other agendas
Reviewing the previous DPDB meeting agenda, proposal for shifting of NST Office was approved by the board. The DPDB Kiphire unanimously approved the Local Area Development programme amounting to Rs. 197.50 Lakh for the district development purpose.
The Minister also suggested the board to declare Tethuyo Village as Model Village in Kiphire district because the village is developed and functions well with the government schemes and in other areas.
Highlighting about the Swajal Project, Reny Wilfred stated that under the project, Kiphire is one of the six districts selected from all over India by Ministry of Drinking Water GOI. For the implementation of the project, he asked the PHED department to prepare a list of villages on priority basis.
District Agriculture Officer also highlighted regarding power tillers distribution to the 25 village councils under Kiphire district on August 15. For the maintenance of power tillers, the Farmers Committee will be set up to control and monitor the utilization propose.
DPDB Kiphire also approved the creation of Information Assistant centre at Kiusom and Seyochung sub- division. Whereas for creation of New GPS and setting up of Government Primary School at Bilongkiu Village, the Board entrusted the Education Department to verify the criteria properly.
Earlier, welcoming the gathering Kiphire DC Mohamed Ali Sihab, IAS said Kiphire district as a whole needs special attention as it lacks in infrastructure and unique geographical location.
