KKTD demands release of test  result for deceased member

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 6 (MExN): The Khar Students' Union Dimapur (KKTD) has asked the Chief Medical Officer of Dimapur to provide the RT PCR test result of late Noksangtemjen, a bonafide citizen of Khar village, who expired on July 31. 

A press release from KKTD President, Imtikokba Aier and General Secretary, Bendangtemsu Aier said that the deceased’s swab test and sputum were taken on July 31 after his death and TrueNat test was declared positive but till now RT PCR confirmation result is yet to be received.

“Due to the non-confirmation of the result, his family members are at dilemma and going through a deep psychological crisis due to unwarranted stigma and discrimination from the society,” it said.

It further informed that while awaiting the test results, his family members and friends were called for COVID test on August 5 “on the oral testimony that the deceased had tested positive.”

It said that the patient had visited the COVID Hospital Dimapur on July 30  with COVID symptoms on the reference of a registered medical practitioner, but was not allowed to undergo the test.

The KKTD demanded that the test report be provided immediately so that all apprehensions and associated social aspersions can be put to rest and the family can grieve in peace.
