KMC 7th annual inter-ward cleanliness competition held

Kohima, December 16 (DIPR): Kohima Municipal Council celebrated annual inter-ward cleanliness competition award ceremony under the theme ‘Cleanliness is next to godliness’ with Deputy Commissioner Kohima Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS as the chief guest on December 16 at Kohima Municipal Council Office.  

The 7th annual inter-ward cleanliness competition 2017 as follows- First position: D. Block (Ward No: 6) Cash prize Rs.50,000, Running Trophy and certificate; Second position: Naga Bazaar (Ward No: 4), with Cash price of Rs.30,000; Third position: New minister's hill/Lerie colony/Lerie Chazou/NST/Diary Farm and New Police Reserve (Ward no: 16) with Cash price of Rs. 20,000.  

Cleanest Shop Award 2017 first position was Won by M/s Northern Sports, NH-2 (ward no-2) with one year Trade License Fee exempted, Second position by Regal Hotel main town ward No- 9 with 6 months Trade License fee exempted and Third position bagged by National News Centre Ward no -6.  

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest stated that cleanliness is a way of life where every citizen has a responsibility to keep the surroundings clean. Adding that KMC is not the sole incharge of cleanliness but every individual should have a concept of cleanliness and put in to practice on a daily basis. He also congratulated the winners and Ward Chairman and KCC for giving their tireless efforts in keeping the city clean and also for successfully making the Kisama, a Plastic Free Zone.  

The programme was chaired by KMC Administrator, Kethosituo Sekhose, invocation prayer and Christmas greeting by Dr.Rev. Vevo Phesao, President Kohima Town Pastors Fellowship and vote of thanks delivered by Zakiekhotuo Kiso, Office Secretary KMC.
