KMH welcomes suspension of IAS officer accused of sexual misconduct

NOKLAK, May 25 (MExN): The Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam (KMH) has expressed appreciation to the Government of Nagaland for suspending Reny Wilfred from his office, calling the move a long-overdue step in response to what it described as a "trail of crimes committed against the interest of women." In a statement issued on Saturday, the KMH alleged that Wilfred’s offences can be traced back to his tenure as Deputy Commissioner of Noklak in 2021, where he was accused of committing crimes against two minor girls.

“Action against the erring officer should have been taken long back,” the KMH stated, while welcoming the State Government’s recent decision and expressing gratitude for it.

The KMH also lauded the efforts of the Nagaland State Women Commission and the Naga Mothers’ Association for “standing tall for the oppressed and silenced women,” and for consistently advocating justice and fairness in society.

Further, the organisation appealed to the judiciary for the timely delivery of justice in the fairest manner, urging the courts to set “an upright example for all to come.”  “The KMH stands for the welfare of women anywhere, anytime and shall never bow down to the intimidation of any rank or caste,” the statement added.
