Kohima: 3rd phase of NISHTHA training concludes

The 3rd phase of Integrated Teacher Training on NISHTHA (National Initiative for School Heads & Teachers Holistic Advancement) concluded today at Dr Neilhouzhüi Kire Government Higher Secondary School, Seikhazou, Kohima.
The aim of NISHTHA is to improve learning outcomes at elementary stage through integrated teacher training programme.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Emilo Patton, Deputy Director, School Education Nagaland said that the school being a designated place to learn, one has to give the best possible education to our students in the “right way at the right time and as the right place.”
She said the purpose of education is not only to impart knowledge but also contribute to holistic development of the students.
“We may have the best system of curriculum or the best infrastructures but unless the teachers are sincere, dedicated, nothing can be achieved,” she said.
Stating that each child is special, she encouraged the school heads and teachers to motivate the students “as it is our bounden duty” and help them to learn in every possible way. Stating that NISHTHA training is not a one-time training, Patton held that it should be an ongoing process.
Jenny Kath, Thepfulhou Theünuo and Dr Sukanya Paul shared feedback of the training programme. The valedictory function was chaired by Edward Aley, key resource person NISHTHA while vote of thanks was proposed by Peteneilhou Rüpreo, project assistant DMA, Samagra Shiksha, Kohima.
This training programme was organized by District Mission Authority, Samagra Shiksha, Kohima. The resource persons of the training included Emilo Patton, Deputy Director School Education Nagaland; Sukanya Paul-Reader SCERT (Mathematics); Peleno Peteneilhou- PGT (English); Yawao Konyak- Research Asst SCERT (Science); Medohunuo-Training Resource Asstt (SCERT); Grace Yanthan- PGT (Social Science); Dr Pijano Mury-Principal DN Kire GHSS; Aneilie Nuh-DIET Lecturer (Education); Kenilo Semp- Senior DIET Lecturer (Maths); Vikedono Sesa, Reader, SCERT (Social Science); Kevileno- DIET Lecturer (English) and Edward Aley- PGT (Science).
Among the many topics covered during the training, included - pedagogy of languages, pedagogy of mathematics/science, inclusive education, pedagogy of social science, learning outcomes, leadership, preparation of classroom/learning plan, leadership module, health and wellbeing, social-personal qualities and POSCO Act. Altogether, 450 teacher trainees attended the five-day long 3rd phase training which commenced on March 10.
Meanwhile, the 4th phase of NISHTHA training will start from March 16 to 20 at Dr Neilhouzhü Kire GHSS Seikhazou, Kohima.
The shortlisted teachers are mandatory to attend the training with smart phone and Email ID for pre and post tests during the training.
