Chümoukedima, July 15 (MExN): The Shokhuvi Village Council on Wednesday issued a clarification, terming as “incorrect” media reports that placed the July 13 suspected IED blast in Shokhuvi village, and asserted that the explosion occurred within the jurisdiction of Chümoukedima A village.
“We wish to state categorically that this information is incorrect. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Chümoukedima A Village, and not Shokhuvi Village,” said H Vekuto Swu, Chairman of the Shokhuvi Village Council, in a rejoinder issued here.
Swu urged all media houses and the public to take note of the correct location and refrain from circulating or relying on the inaccurate version. He also called upon all concerned outlets to correct their reports at the earliest to prevent the spread of misinformation.
The clarification, issued “in the interest of truth, accuracy and public awareness,” comes two days after the suspected IED blast near the Khovanalla bridge in Chümoukedima, on July 13.
