Kohima DPDB meeting held

Kohima, May 16 (DIPR): The Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held at the Board’s conference hall on May 16.  

Reviewing the last meeting minutes, Convenors of Adoption Committees under DPDB Kohima highlighted their activities carried out so far and also their follow up action plan. ADC Tseminyu, Vikhweno Meratsu informed that seven committees have been set up for seven villages under Tseminyu sub-division to facilitate their requirement wherever possible. Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor informed that the Adoption Committee members of 9th Kohima Town needs to be reviewed again for strengthening as required by their Advisor. For grand-in-aid of schools, the DC requested the department concerned to expedite the proposals and submit it in June. On Tseisema to Peducha road, he informed that the concept note received from EE PWD (R&B) Chiephobozou has been forwarded to the Government and requested the legislators present in the meeting to push the matter for improvement of the road. On carpeting of road within Kohima Town carried out by the National Highway Division, Rovilatuo solicited the support and effort of all the DPDB members to sensitize the public to protect and preserve the road for its longevity.  

The house approved the five applicants for registration of societies. It also decided to have District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting after the next DPDB meeting is over. The meeting also decided to have a social work on June 4, 2016 starting 7:30 am along the Secretariat Road to Assembly Secretariat, where tree plantation was carried out by Kohima DPDB last year. Trees will be planted wherever required. For this, a committee was constituted headed by ADC Kohima, Lithrongla as Convenor; DFO Kohima as Member Secretary and Kohima DHO, DAO and EE Irrigation as Members to assess the necessary requirements.  

Parliamentary Secretary Er. Levi requested the departments to converge if any water harvesting projects are available and take up some viable projects which will be useful and benefit the people. He also suggested that NSDMA should come up with some preventive measures on buildings and to create awareness among the people to take advice from experts.

Minister Nicky also shared that the young people and public should be aware to assist the fire tenders when fire incidents occur by not interfering into their job or blocking their ways as they are well trained in their field.  

Guest speaker from Disaster Management, Thejangulie Zao, who is the DDMO Kohima, spoke on the structure of disaster management in national, State/NSDMA, State Executive Committee, district and village levels. He informed that Nagaland is the only State in the country which has Village Disaster Management Authority. He also highlighted various activities and roles carried out by the NSDMA. He opined that Government departments should be sensitized on the NSDMA related activities and strengthen the SDMA and DDMA and work towards a safer and more resilient Nagaland. Zao also informed that 24x7 State Emergency Operation Centre has been set up by the NSDMA. When disaster strikes, one may contact the centre by dialing Emergency Toll Free No. 1070.
