United 16 drub Khriekesa, Forerunners’ edge past Power Comm

Longkhoi and Wanghe starred in a 6-0 drubbing of Khriekesa FC by United 16 FC on Monday at the ongoing Kohima Football League 2017. United’s Longkhoi struck thrice and Wanghe twice while skipper Jonathan Koso chipped in with a goal in a match that saw 5 goals in the second half.
Koso opened the score 5 minutes into the game. A startled Khriekesa regained well fending off United’s inroads for the rest of the first half.
Looking to settle the score, Khriekesa started the second half only to be rattled as United’s Wanghe extended the lead in the 47th minute. Longkhoi made it 3-0 in the 57th and not long after Wanghe struck again to make it 4-0. Longkhoi wrapped up the match in style scoring his 2nd in the 85th and the third in added time.
In the other match of the day, Forerunners’ FC edged past Power Comm FC 2-1 in an evenly contested encounter. The match looked set for a goalless first half but Power Comm’s Nyithong Magh chipped one in the 44th.
An upbeat Power Comm went for the half time break but Forerunners’ came back strongly with skipper Seyiekhrietuo equalizing in the 54th minute. The match appeared to be deadlocked at 1-1 but Avilie ensured a win for Forerunners’ finding the mark in the 89th.
