Kohima, August 20 (MExN): A coordination meeting of the Media Cell for Kohima district, constituted in connection with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Photo Electoral Roll 2026, was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on August 19.
Chairing the meeting, Chairman of the Media Cell and Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, B Henok Buchem briefed members on the ongoing SIR exercise and their roles and responsibilities in the revision process, according to the State DIPR.
The meeting discussed strategies for effective public awareness and information dissemination, including preparation and dissemination of press releases, media coordination and monitoring, publicity and awareness initiatives, and management of official social media platforms.
Measures to counter fake news, misinformation and misleading information related to the SIR process were also discussed. Members emphasised timely dissemination of verified information to keep the public informed about the objectives, procedures and timelines of the revision exercise.
The meeting further discussed strengthening SIR awareness through various communication platforms, including greater public outreach through the District Icon and other appropriate media channels, the State DIPR added.
