Kohima & Mon joins nationwide EVP launching

Kohima/Mon, September 1 (MExN): Along with the rest of the country, the Electors Verification Programme (EVP) was launched in Kohima and Mon on September 1.


The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) & Home Commissioner Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha IAS launched the EVP in Kohima on September 1, at Hotel Japfu.


A DIPR report stated that addressing the gathering, Abhijit Sinha said the EVP was a campaign launched across the country from September 1 to October 15.It was launched  to sensitize, motivate and mobilize citizens, stakeholders and electors to check one elector’s detail in the electoral roll and do the necessary correction if any. It can be done by either visiting the Voters Facilitation Centers, Common Service Centres (CSCs) or through online by visiting the ECI website or downloading a mobile app and  uploading a scanned identification card as proof for one’s correct details. 


The CEO also informed that the effort of all is to achieve the desired target of 100% with strategies for communication so as to ensure that no voter is left behind.   He also said that this programme was to reach out to all the electors in the state and motivate them to check their electoral details and do necessary correction if any.


Additional CEO, Moa Aier who also spoke during the programme informed that one can replace or update the old passport on the EPIC free of cost, by uploading it through the mobile app or the electoral website, with scanned identification cards as proof during the EVP. He added that during this programme, one can delete the enrolment of one’s expired kin from the electoral roll through online or report about the same to the Election Office for deletion.


During the programme a demo on how to use the app was also demonstrated by Ketousie AEO (MIS).


The report further informed that it may be mentioned that the objectives of the Elector Verification Programme are: To verify elector's details and indicate corrections in details, including Photograph,if required, and authentication of entry; To obtain details of family members and verifying their entries, Removal of entries of shifted and dead electors. Enrolment of unenrolled citizens and to obtain details of prospective electors in the family;To obtain contact details/ GIS Coordinates (With Smart Phone) to provide better Electoral Services; To obtain inputs about existing/ probable Polling Stations; To improve health of electoral Roll by removal of DSE and Errors; To improve delivery of electoral services.


It also informed that the electors may verify the details through the following: ‘Voter helpline’ Mobile app; NVSP portal; By visiting Common Service Centres (CSCs); By visiting Voter Facilitation Centres (VFCs) at ERO Office; PwD electors may call Voter helpline [1950] seeking facilitation.


Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer (DC&DEO) Mon, Thavaseelan K IAS also launched the EVP at Mon, Conference Hall of the DC on September 1, in the presence of ERO, AER0s, staffs and BLOs.


The DC&DEO Mon highlighted on the special summary revision of election roll and verification of electors, which will be conducted from September 1 to October 15. “This exercise shall be done using various IT tools such as National Voters Services Portal (NVSP), Voters Helpline App and 1950 Helpline,” the DC stated in a press release issued.


It also stated that live demonstration on the use of the above apps was conducted by DC& DEO, Mon and he requested all officials involved to do their work diligently so that the public of Mon District will be benefited through this programme.
