Kohima Police arrest two

Kohima, March 2 (MExN): Personnel of Kohima Police apprehended two persons for demanding money from traders in and around Kohima Town on March 2. A press release from PRO, Kohima Police informed that on receipt of information that some persons were demanding money from traders in and around Kohima Town on March 2, a team was mobilized comprising the DEF Kohima Mobile Unit, personnel from the District Intelligence Branch and North Police Station and joint operation was carried out.   The vehicle of the accused was located at Southern Gate of Local Ground, Kohima and one occupant identified as Shikuto Assumi (33) was arrested, the PRO said. Assumi ascertained that he along with one Kahoto Assumi was demanding money from the traders in the name of NSCN (K), he said. Accordingly, a manhunt was launched to arrest the other accomplice identified as Kahoto Assumi (51), who was apprehended from Razhü Point, Kohima within two hours of the same day, the release said.

  According to the statement of the accused, they were instructed by a Deputy Secretary in NSCN (K) to collect money from traders operating in and around Kohima Town area, it was added.   During investigation, the PRO said, one demand note dated 25/02/16 signed by Finance in-charge, Kohima District and issued in the name of GPRN, Office of the Military Finance NSCN/GPRN- K was also recovered.   In this connection, a criminal case vide Kohima North P.S Case No. 0019/16 U/S 384/120B IPC R/W 13 UAP Act has been registered against the accused and they are remanded into police custody for conducting further investigation.
