Kohima police orders enquiry into  reports of taxation at check gates 

Kohima, February 11 (MExN): In regard to the allegations made by Nagaland Timber Traders’ Union (NTTU) on “resumption of taxation at check gates” published in local media on February 11 issue, Sr Superintendent of Police, Kohima today stated that the Kohima district police has ordered an enquiry and if any of its personnel found guilty suitable action will be initiated against the erring personnel. The report of “police personnel stopped a timber laden vehicle at Peducha on February 9 and demanded/paid money has been taken seriously by Kohima Police” the SP Kohima stated in a press release.  The SP Kohima mentioned that Kohima police has only one inter-state check gate at Khuzama (Manipur-Nagaland Border). “Elsewhere, highway patrol vehicles with police personnel are deployed in National/state highway to provide security and assistance to commuters/travellers within Kohima district jurisdictions,” he added.
