Kohima Traffic Police to intensify checking on violation of rules

Kohima, August 7 (MExN): In regard to traffic violation, Kohima Traffic Police through a press statement issued by Additional Superintendent of Police & PRO Kohima has informed that it will intensify the ongoing checking on violation of traffic rules.  

Offence related to documents:

• Driving without carrying a valid driving license.(Section 3 r/w 181 MV Act)

• Not carrying the required documents as specified in Motor Vehicle Act while driving. (Section 130(3) r/w 177 MV Act)

• Driving without a valid Permit/Insurance.(Section 130 r/w 177 MV Act)  

Offence related to driving:

• Driving by a minor (aged below 18). (Section 4 r/w 181 MV Act)

• Letting an unlicensed fellow to drive. (Section 5 r/w 180 MV Act) • Driving under influence of Alcohol/Drugs. (Section 185 MV Act)

• Driving bikes/two wheelers without wearing a helmet. (Section129 r/w 177 MV Act)

• Using mobile phone while driving. (Section 184 MV Act) • Rough/Reckless/Negligent driving. (Section 177 MV Act)

• Hazardous or hasty (over the speed limit) driving. (Section 184 MV Act)

• Driving in the center and not keeping to left side of the road. (Section 66 r/w 192 MV Act)

• Driving against one way. (Section 2 RRR r/w 177 MV Act)

• Reversing without due caution and care. (Section 17(i)RRR 177 MV Act)

• Taking ‘U’ turn during forbidden hours. (Section MMVR 233)

• Not taking adequate care while taking a ‘Turn’. (Section 177 MV Act)

• Carrying people to the point that it causes inconvenience (be it for rearview visibility or gear shifting) to the driver. (Section177 MV Act)

• Tripling on bikes/two wheelers. (Section128/177 MV Act)

• Driving on footpath. (Section RRR 177 MV Act)  

Offence related to vehicle number plates:

• Use of offensive number plate for vehicle used in driving.(Section CMVR 105(2)(ii)) • Displaying ‘Applied For’ (Section 177 MV Act)  

Offence related to vehicle lights:

• Improper use of headlights/tail lights for vehicle used in driving.(Section CMVR 105 (2)(ii))

• Using a High Beam when it’s not needed. (Section 177 MV Act)

Offence related to traffic police:

• Disobeying a Traffic Police Officer in uniform.(Section 199 MV Act)

• Driving against police signal. (Section 22(a)RRR)  

Therefore, all vehicle owners have been advised to keep relevant vehicle documents with them and follow traffic rules while driving to avoid penalties as per relevant provision of M.V Act 1988.
