Konyak Heritage Village set for April 5 inauguration

MON, JANUARY 30 (MExN): The Konyak Heritage Complex in Mon district will be inaugurated on April 5, coinciding with the Konyak tribe’s Aoleang festival.

The decision was made during a review meeting on January 25 at the Chief Minister’s Residence Office, following Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s visit to the project site on January 20.

The complex, designed to promote tourism, culture, and local livelihoods, features nine traditional morungs, an amphitheater, an administrative building, a multi-purpose hall, and an open-air ground with a rostrum. Additional planned components include an Angh House, a helipad, a women’s hostel, a basketball court, a guest house, a park, and a water reservoir.

During the meeting, Rio directed DUDA and the contractor to ensure timely completion of the project. Officials in attendance included the DUDA advisor, chief secretary, additional chief secretary and development commissioner, commissioner and secretary of DUDA, as well as other department officials and the contractor.

The Konyak Heritage Complex aims to serve as a cultural hub and a key attraction for visitors to the region.
