Konyak organisations condemn alleged assault in Phesama

Kohima, May 15 (MExN): The Konyak Union Kohima, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong, Kohima and Konyak Students’ Union Kohima have jointly condemned the alleged assault and attempted rape of a minor at Phesama Village on May 12.

In a joint condemnation note, the organisations alleged that an individual entered a house without invitation and assaulted family members before attempting to rape a minor child. They termed the incident “inhuman” and “barbaric,” stating that such acts cannot be tolerated in a civilised society and must be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.

The organisations stated that the Konyak civil societies in Kohima remain committed to the wellbeing and safety of women, children, and society as a whole. They further urged citizens to condemn crimes against women and children.

They also appealed to law enforcing agencies to ensure that the accused is brought to justice at the earliest.
