Mon, December 22 (DIPR): Konyak Union Aboi Unit celebrated its Silver Jubilee on December 22 with Parliamentary Secretary for Arts & Cultural, Eshak Konyak as the chief guest.
The chief guest while giving respect and honour to the founding members of KU Aboi Unit, stated that in spite of all the hard situations, they never gave up and reached up to this level. He urged the people to work together for development and progress in society. He also inaugurated the Jubilee Monolith and released the Jubilee Souvenir.
Konyak Union, President S. Manlip Konyak exhorted the people to protect and maintain the wildlife, natural resources, stop hunting and fishing with chemicals. He also urged the leaders, elders, Village Councils, Village Guards, NGOs to adopt strict Rules and Regulations in protecting Wild Life and Natural resources.
The first president of KU Aboi Unit, Y Shahang also delivered a short speech. Rev. T. Wano, Missionary at large dedicated the monolith. K. Akai, member, Advisory Board of KU Aboi, introducing the monolith said that it was laid in memory of late Longnyem, the first politician from Aboi Constituency who was also the Regional Council Members way back in 1963 to 69. The Monolith was donated by his family.
Welcome Address was delivered by N. Wanglem, President Konyak Union Aboi. Jubilee Souvenir was dedicated by Nokton, Fellowship Pastor Aboi.
Special number was presented by ATBC Choir, Pongshong, KNSK Unit Aboi. Cultural Song was sung by Upper Range Konyak, Chen Area Women Aboi, Chaoha Union Aboi, Langmeing Union Aboi.
