KSC win Inter College Basketball Tourney
Winners of the inter college basketball tournament at Emanuel College, Dimapur.
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 27 (MExN): The 2nd Inter College Basketball Tournament for both men and women, a two day event organised by Immanuel College concluded on November 27.
A press release informed that on the first day, the tournament began with a short programme led by Esther Hebo, Assistant Professor, Department of Geology; God's blessing was invoked by Lanusangla Imsong, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology. Introduction to special invitee was given by Temjen Longkumer, Assistant Professor, Department of Education and Convener, Sports Committee, IMC.
Dr. Naieem Mustafa, IPS, DCP, Zone 1, Dimapur graced the event as the special invitee. He stressed on the importance of sports by making it an integral part of life for it to help students accept and overcome failures, which will in turn equip and teach them to be able to face any challenges. He also urged the players to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.
After the speech the special invitee declared the tournament opened with a kick off.
Altogether six colleges—Immanuel College, St John College, Kohima Science College, Unity College and Pranabananda Women's College took part in the tournament.
In both the men’s and women's categories, Kohima Science College emerged as the champion followed by Unity College as runner up in the men's category and St. John College in the women's category. The champions of both the category were awarded with the champion’s trophy alongwith certificates and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each. The runners up on the other hand were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 5000 each.
The top scorers in both the categories—Veduo Lea (men's) and Lelevinuo Kere (women's) were from Kohima Science College. They were awarded certificates and Rs 1000 each.
