KSU undertakes sanitation cum plantation drive

Kohima, July 31 (MExN): The Kigwema Students’ Union (KSU) has conducted sanitation cum plantation drive on July 30 at Angami Youth Organization (AYO) monolith site, Kigwema under Kohima district.

This programme is part of “Kickoff campaign for 75th anniversary celebration” of KSU in 2023.

This program was organized under the guidance and patronage of MLA Medo Yhokha, advisor Technical Education and Election.

In brief speech, Yhokha exhorted the students and elders gathered to have a clear vision and to have a basis rooted n responsibility and accountability for the future generations.

He also said that the opportunities and privileges which we are enjoying today is a gift from God “and therefore, we have to commit our responsibilities, that responsibility being, to do our best for our future generation.”

This plantation drive is a good start for the present generation to be healthy, clean and to progress, he said adding “Let this sanitation cum plantation drive not become a publicity gimmick or a basis to avail schemes. Anyone can plant a tree but that in itself is incomplete. The ultimate goal is to see how many of the saplings being planted today mature and bear fruit and benefit the generation to come. It is our responsibility to ensure that we take care of the plants, nurture them and this should be the very basis on which many more good things should be initiated by the students union.”

He maintained that a tree planted today will benefit the future generation.

100 Rhododendron saplings were planted on the day in and around the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) Jubilee Monolith.
