Mon, November 6 (DIPR): Konyak Union (KU) and Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), Chen unit celebrated silver jubilee on November 3 and 4 with Minister of RD & REPA, CL John as the chief guest with the theme ‘Striding in unity.’
The chief guest congratulated the pioneers, leaders of KU and KNSK, individuals and participants who led the society over the years. He also thanked God for the love and blessing upon the people and urged the people to forgive and forget on the occasion of jubilee. He further encouraged the people to inculcate humility in oneself, fear God, lean on the gospel of Christ and prepare themselves for the golden jubilee with hard work and corruption free society.
Parliamentary Secretary CAWD, Yollow Konyak, who graced the cultural programme as the chief guest, also congratulated the leaders of KU and KNSK, Chen unit.
SDO (C) Chen, Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo (NCS) urged the leaders of KU and KNSK, Chen unit and the general public to retrospect the past 25 years. He highlighted the significance of jubilee and encouraged KU and KNSK to be more responsible in the society. He added that government officials are only to assist, while much responsibility for welfare and development of public depends on NGOs like KU and KNSK. He encouraged the people to eradicate the bad traditions and follow the good ones so as to become a civilized society.
W. Wangyuh Konyak, former MP and Vice President, Konyak Union also spoke on the occasion. Rev. AM Sheipa dedicated the silver jubilee monolith. Rev. Methjen, Finance Secretary KBBB and Rev. Yeangphong, Church & Evangelism Secretary KBBB were the speakers while Rev. M. Manshok, Pastor Longchang Baptist Church, dedicated the Jubilee Hall.
