KU resolves on broad-based unity

Mon,  February 5 (MExN): A press statement issued by the Konyak Union (KU) Mon has expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the joint meeting of Konyak mainstream and underground leaders held at Chenwetnyu Village on January 29, which had discussed the ongoing unification drive. “Konyaks welcome the peace process and yearn for a united Nagaland but if it comes to only Nagas of Nagaland, then Konyaks will have to retreat for it will mean deserting the Konyak brothers of Arunachal, Assam and Myanmar” the release stated as per the resolution passed jointly.

The KU press note also informed that the joint meeting had banned the involvement of undergrounds in the coming election so as to enable a free and fair election. It also resolved to continue helping the Konyak brethren from across the international boundary who have been neglected by Myanmar.

The KU also thanked “general” Khole Konyak, for taking the trouble in coming over to the meeting and also all Konyak underground functionaries, government officers, ministers and MLAs, NGO leaders and village councils of Chenwetnyu village for hosting the meeting.
