Kuluvezo Soho today emerged the champion title of 47th Wrestling Meet 2025 of Phek Wrestling Association (PWA) held at Phek village.
22 years Kuluvezo, son of Veniechi Soho, pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 40,000 sponsored by Dr. K. Hoshi, ex- Candidate 19th Phek A/C.
Basayi Keyho, son of Lt. Vechochiyi Keyho bagged the second position and received Rs. 25,000 sponsored by Zhokupa Hoshi, Asst Programme Officer, DoSE, Kohima, Nagaland.
Thupumutu Chizo, son of Kuvepa Chizo stood third position and awarded with Rs. 15,000 sponsored by Shepalu Venuh, vice principal Phek Govt College.
4th position winner Nieyi Vero, son of Ngope Vero, received Rs. 10,000, sponsored by Rukuto Venuh, VCM Phek Village.
In ‘B’ Team category, Muzi Keyho, son of Zhokhopa Keyho bagged the champion title and pocketed Rs. 10,000 sponsored by Kuveduyi Venuh, EBRC Co-ordinator Phek Block.
Kethose Vero, son of Kevisetuo Vero stood second position and awarded with Rs. 70000, sponsored by Veshe Chizo, president Phekmi Collegiate Forum.
Third prize winner Muluvo Rhakho, son of Kuvoyi Rhakho, received Rs. 5000, sponsored by Kukhotso Keyho, GT/GMS Phek Basa.
Shete Vero, son of Vesakho Vero stood 4th position and received Rs. 3000, sponsored by Hiivekholu Keyho, Women VDB secretary, Phek village.
In Under 15 category, Zuveo Keyho, son of Shemutu Keyho, Bizo Chizo, son of Zavishiyi Chizo, Zhovetha Venuh, son of Kuzhopa Venuh and Kuvenu Venuh, son of Thupunezo Venuh bagged 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively.
The first prize for Under 15 category was sponsored by Lavoto Chizo, NPF president 19th A/C Phek ( Rs. 15,000), Kupoyi Hoshi, PIS, DIS Mon (2nd – Rs. 10,000), Er. Vekhochiyi Rhakho, JE, PWD (NH), Phek Division (3rd- Rs. 8000 as well 4th prize- Rs. 6000).
Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Vezuhii Keyho graced the closing ceremony and gave away prize to the winners.
Earlier, gracing the event as the special guest, MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, said “Be it in any profession- business, sports , entrepreneurship, education or any other extracurricular activities, only those persons who put God first will shine in life.”
When one commits to God, he (God) will lead your path to success, he said.
To shine or to do well in life, one also need to choose the right profession, or else one may become like politicians who are “Jack of all trades but master of none,” he said.
Azo said that “Jack of all trades” some how goes well or does well with politicians but does not go well in talents, sports and other professions.”
Surhoneyi Soho, international wrestling referee license (UWW) officiated the meet as the chief referee.
Kuniesa Vero, PA to MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, 19th A/C Phek was the chief patron of the meet.
Phek Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Pritpal Kaur, IPS, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) for Phek Forest Division, Enyiwekha Wezah, NPF Phek division working president Api Vadeo, NPF Central secretary Zaveyi Kezo, Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) joint secretary Kuzhovesa Soho were the among the many dignitaries present at the inaugural ceremony.
The inaugural ceremony was led by PWA finance secretary Dzuthoyi Hoshi while PWA president R. Bibi Soho delivered presidential address.
PWA technical secretary Veta Soho administered oath to the wrestlers.
