
Longleng, August 18 (MExN): One day training cum demonstration programme was conducted on soybean production technology by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Longleng at KVK office in three village (Bhumnyu, Lingtak and Yongphang) on July 17 and in four different villages namely Yongam, Mongikang, Sakshi and Orangkong on July 19, 20, 21 and August 4 respectively under Longleng District of Nagaland.
Dr. Manoj Kumar SMS (Agronomy) spoke on importance of soybean and how it will fix nitrogen through symbiotic process and improve the fertility status of soil for benefit of succeeding crop. He also gave detailed lectures about the production technology of soybean such as soil & climate, suitable variety, spacing, nutrient management and time of harvesting.
Resource person E. Lireni Kikon, SMS (plant protection) deliberated on major insect pest and disease and their management for higher production and productivity.
Value addition and processing of soybean was taken by resource person Thungchano S. Ezung, Programme Assistant (Home Science), who spoke on methodology of soya milk and soya paneer preparation and its importance for nutritional security.
All together 146 farmers participated in the training and took keen interest during the training programme. Seeds, manure, lime etc. were distributed to the farmers.
