KVK Mon organizes inter-state farmers exposure tour

Mon, September 3 (MExN):The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mon (Aboi) organized a three day inter- state farmers exposure tour under National Innovations Climate Resilient in Agriculture-Technology Demonstration Component (NICRA-TDC) at KVK , Khowai, Tripura from August 29 to 31.

Enabling farmers from different regions to interact with and learn from each other, allowing them to view practical examples of successful integration of sustainable practices in farming communities like their own, is the main purpose of exposure visits, stated a press release issued by Dr. Manoj Singh Sachan KVK Mon, Aboi.

It stated that during the three-day inter-state farmers exposure tour eight farmers of NICRA adopted village Ngangching with the team leader Dr M S Sachan, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (Plant Breeding), KVK, Mon, Nagaland. 

Deepankar Dey, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science) & Co- PI of NICRA- TDC, KVK, Khowai, Tripura led by Mon farmers visited the instructional farms of KVK Khowai such as different type of component of intensive integrated farming system; seedling production through seeds; cutting, budding, grafting of fruit orchard like mango, orange, litchi etc. unit as well as different kind of livestock rearing house viz., pig sty, poultry house etc.

Mean while, in agricultural sector paddy- cum- fish farming system, flower (marigold) production, various kind of paddy production systems, rice bean production system were highlighted by the different expert viz. farm manager, programme Assistant (Fishery & Animal Science), subject matter specialist (Veteneary Science,  Horticulture). 

Agri Clinic, plant protection, mushroom spawn production unit, Soil testing laboratory were also visited and detailed explanations were given by different SMS of Plant protection, Home Science & Soil Science expert. Farmers- Scientist Interaction was organized by the experts with the presence of Dr. Deepak Nath, Senior- Scientist & Head, KVK, khowai, Tripura, the release added.

It further stated that during the visit of NICRA adopted North Pulinpur ADC village, under KVK, Khowai, Tripura, Village Climate Resilient Management Commettee (VCRMC) members were met and shown the Custom Hiring Centre, book keeping record maintained by VCRMC members, Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR), water conservation and fruit orchard etc.

Farmers to farmers Interaction and group discussion meeting were also organized by CO- PI & Young Professional of NICRA- TDC, KVK, Khowai, Tripura, it added.
