Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The Külolau Yemishe Ghami Küqhakulu (KYGK) today issued a memorandum to the Dimapur Commissioner of Police to book and put to trial at the earliest, the people involved in the August 16 killing of Major Toishe Yeptho in Purana Bazaar, Dimapur.
The KYGK President, Vihoshe Awomi and General Secretary Ayeho Zayemi in the memorandum stated that Yeptho “was a bonafide member of the KYGK, who was shot dead in front of his wife, children, mother and family members on August 16.”
It also alleged that the assassins even tried to kill the deceased victim’s wife.
While lauding the Dimapur Police team for “tirelessly working” to nab the accused, it demanded the accused persons to be put to trial at the earliest and not to be released on bail “under any circumstances” till befitting punishment is awarded in accordance with the law of the land.
It cautioned, “If the arrested accused is/are released on bail”, the KYGK “will not be held responsible for any untoward incident.”
It further acknowledged the termination from service of accused persons— Khekato Kinimi, Defence Kilonser cum UTI Supervisor and Chungshi Longkumar, Deputy Kilonser by the NSCN (R) and held that it would enable the law enforcing agencies “to take legal course of action in a fair manner.”
Police confirm three arrests
Meanwhile the police have confirmed that three arrests have been made with regard to the August 16 incident. Police however refused to divulge any further information citing the sensitive nature of the case.
