The 85th Annual sports meet of Kigwema Youth Organization (KYO) culminated today at Kholera, Kigwema Ground.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dr. Vimezo Kere, President, Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) encouraged players not to just participate and compete at village level but to excel and also represent. He expressed how the village is one of the oldest and carries a good legacy as a big and elder village. In this regard, he urged and challenged the youths to become examples in doing good in different disciplines not only sports but academics or in one’s character. The speaker said it lies on one’s hand and not just to depend on each other. He encouraged the people to be humble and set as an example for others.
On January 20, Ruokuovikho Chale, President, Angami Sports Association (ASA) was the special guest and Zasitsolie Beio, President, Southern Angami Youth organization (SAYO) was the Match Patron on the 2nd Day.
During the three days sports meet, Football, volleyball, sepak takraw and tug of war was held for both men and women.
In Men’s Football, Merama Khel emerged champions after defeating Kipho Seca Khel. In Women’s Football, Makhuma Khel took the champion trophy while Merama Khel emerged in second position. Merama Khel also won the volleyball (men) and the runners up were Kipho-Seca Khel. Meanwhile, in Women’s Volleyball, the Champion were Khamima Khel and Runners up were Makhuma Khel. In Sepak Takraw Men, merama khel won the first position which was followed by Kipho-Seca Khel. For Sepak Takraw Women, the Champion were Makhuma Khel and Runners up were Khamima Khel. Makhuma Khel was declared winner of the Tug of war while the Runners up were Merama Khel.
The match officials were Kohima District Football Referee Association (KDFRA) and Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA).
