DIMAPUR, JULY 25 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy has expressed disappointment over the lack of progress in transforming Kiphire as an Aspirational District, according to a DIPR report.
Addressing a state level committee meeting for Kiphire Aspirational District on July 24 in the Planning & Co-ordination Department, Civil Secretariat, Kohima, Toy lamented that Kiphire still sits at the bottom of the list among the 115 aspirational districts in the whole country.
The Chief Secretary therefore called upon the departments to develop good coordination for development of the district. He advised the Head of Departments and officers in Kiphire district to tie up with one another and urged them to work in mission mode and not as duty bound. He also asked them to keep updating the records and indicators.
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary expressed his appreciation to the people of Kiphire district for working tirelessly towards the development of the district despite their differences.
Joint Secretary and Prabhan Officer from Ministry of HRD, Government of India, Sanjay Kumar gave a power point presentation. The Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire district and HoDs of the district also attended the meeting.
Launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2018, the ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ is a programme under NITI Aayog with the objective to quickly and effectively transform the most underdeveloped districts in the country.
The broad contours of the programme are Convergence (of Central & State Schemes), Collaboration (of Central, State level ‘Prabhari’ Officers & District Collectors), and Competition among districts driven by a mass Movement. With States as the main drivers, this program will focus on the strength of each district, identify low-hanging fruits for immediate improvement, measure progress, and rank districts.
