KOHIMA, SEPT 27 (DIPR): Secretary of NEC, HV Lalringa today held a video-aided interaction with officials of IPR departments of all the North-Eastern States at NEC Secretariat, Shillong.
Lalringa, along with Deputy Secretary and IPR in-charge, Santanu Mitra and nodal officers from IPR departments of all the North-Eastern State briefed the state officials on the success of the two-day seminar on peace and development in the North East, jointly organised by the Institute of Defence Studies and Analyses, North Eastern Council and North-Eastern Hill University.
Lalringa said that the NEC would seek to strengthen NEC Information cells in the IPR directorates. He requested the state IPR departments to give more publicity to the NEC activities and schemes for which necessary support will be given.
Lalringa also impressed on the nodal officers the importance of NEC working in collaboration with State IPR Departments. He said that the information cells would be under the direct supervision of IPR directors to build up the image of the NEC. He expressed regret that even since establishment of NEC in the early 70s there has been no impact assessment or good publications made.
He expressed optimism that with the setting up of the information cells, information regarding various schemes and programmes of the NEC may be disseminated and shared among the states.
IPR officials from their respective states’ NIC video conferencing rooms highlighted the status of IPR information cells and also made several suggestions to the NEC Secretary, which were duly noted. State officials requested for more financial support from the NEC to conduct press tours, exhibitions and other publicity related activities.
The nodal officers of all the states briefed the NEC Secretary about the preparation that has been made for setting up of the information cells. They urged the NEC to supply more information and literature so that the NEC cells are able to play a dual role as information centre as well as monitoring centres.
