Wokha, August 27 (MExN): The Land Owner’s Union (LOU) Wokha has served a seven-day notice General Manager of Nagaland State Transport to meet its demand or face indefinite “lock down of the GM office and business establishment within the department jurisdiction of Wokha.” Explaining the chain of events leading the notification, the LOU said that in March this year, the Union had given one-month period for appointment of (IV grade) “as per the agreement Dt. 30th March 1968” which the department failed to address. Subsequently, the AGM office Wokha was locked on April 29 as a mark of protest. The GM staff and land owners met on May 2 to discuss the issue but with no positive outcome, both parties decided to meet again on or before May 20. However, the GM office failed to turn up for the meeting, LOU alleged. Despite this, the land owners met the GM on June 6 where he reportedly assured them that a meeting of senior officers would be convened on June 11 and the outcome of the meeting conveyed to the union at the earliest. However, the LOU alleged that even after lapse of two months, the department has completely ignored the issue. In this connection, the union stated that it has no option but have to resort to lockdown if the demand is not meet within seven days after the date of publication of the notice. “Any untoward incident during the locking of the office, the department shall be solely responsible,” stated the notice appended by LOU Chairman Phyanyamo Murry and Secretary Yankhosao Murry.
