Peren, August 29 (MExN): The road in Ahthibung area of Peren District was washed away on Monday night by the river, resulting in total cut off of the lifeline to Ahthibung and Khelma area.
In this regard, the Kuki Inpi Nagaland (KIN) has drawn the attention of the Government of Nagaland and the department concerned. KIN, President, L. Gangte in a press release said that adding misery to the situation is, when officials of the KIN stationed at Ahthibung tried to visit the spot, several landslide between Chalkot Village and Saijang village had totally blocked the road and the officials could not proceed.
Therefore, the KIN has earnestly appealed to the department concerned and the Government of Nagaland to take steps to clear the road blocks and construct proper protection wall at the site where the road had been washed away by the river. It also requested to divert the tributaries of River Manglou away from the road into the main river so that the road is not washed away again.
Meanwhile, it acknowledged District Administration and the Commandant of the 9th IR Battalion for clearing the landslide below Saijang Village near Manglou Bridge to enable the people to travel again.
