The fortnight long Hindi Celebration (Hindi Diwas) concluded today at State Academy Hall, Kohima with Director General Prisons and Home Guards, Rupin Sharma as the chief guest.

Emphasising on languages as a means of communication and way of improving one's knowledge, Sharma, however, implored that language should not be used as a divisive force but should use as a form of exchanging culture.

“Language brings all culture together. Learning other's language does not destroy the image of a person, rather lifestyle divides the people,” said Sharma maintaining the essence of learning Hindi language which should not be perceived as a burden to people but should be accepted for better means of communication.

Sharma viewed that to understand Hindi, one need not require a script, rather learnt to speak and understand what the other person is communicating. Sharma also requested the local media to introduce a small column so that student as well Hindi writers can express their views.

The 15th Annual Hindi Magazine Naganchal was also released during the celebration. Presentation of awards were given to the winners of Hindi Competition in various categories and a cultural programme was also showcased by student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kohima, NEZCC and staff from Central offices, Kohima.
