Pfutsero, December 19 (MExN): Team Alpha Wolves successfully organized the first Open Winter Basketball Tournament on December 16 at the Sports Complex Pfutsero. The tournament witnessed the participation of eight teams including the hosting team. Last Kings from Kohima stood strong and finished as the champions of the tournament. They received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 along with certificates. The first prize was sponsored by the KALOS. Team Falcons emerged as the runners up. They received a cash prize of Rs. 5000 and certificates. Two individual awards were also awarded. Vizokhotuo pienyii of Last Kings was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. On the other hand Orenthang Lapon of team Falcons was named the best Defensive Player of the tournament. Both of them were awarded with cash prize and a citation. The tournament began with the inaugural function led by Anthony Touthang. Krishna Ramauli, Pastor of the Nepali Baptist Church, Pfutsero, led the prayer. The President of Team Alpha Wolves, Besuta Lasetso, took the time to greet and welcome the dignitaries, special invitees and all the teams. Zechelo Wetsah, Secretary of the KALOS, exhorted the participants through his short yet meaningful speech. "We meet as strangers but let us part as friends and take wonderful memories back home", he advised.
