Late Lisen laid to rest in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, May 5 (DIPR): The mortal remains of Late R Lisen Ao was today laid to rest in his hometown, Mokokchung. A prominent figure and torchbearer among the Aos, Late Lisen passed away at the age of 84 in Dimapur on May 3.  

Born to Late Imkongmar and Emily of Molungyimsen Village on 27th Nov 1932, Late Lisen contributed immensely towards the society during his lifetime. Among others, Late Lisen was a prolific writer, a tireless Social Worker who worked with the youth, Churches and Communities, and an ardent believer who was a blessing to all that met and worked with.  

Some of the highlights of his services are: 1958-63 – Served as student worker in Nagaland and Assam under ABAM 1959 – 1st President of the Ao Theological Association Impur 1961 – Delegate to the 2nd Asian Baptist Youth Conference in Tokyo, Japan 1964 – Elected as the first Member of Legislative Assembly, (MLA) from Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency 1968 – Served as Pastor, Mokokchung Town Baptist Church 1974 – Elected as member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Mokokchung Town Constituency.

CL John extends condolences

Dimapur: Nagaland Minister for Rural Development (RD) and Rural Employment & Poverty Alleviation (REPA), CL John, has expressed deep shock to learn of the sudden demise of Late R. Lisen Ao, Ex. M.L.A. in Dimapur on Tuesday evening.   In a condolence message, John recalled Late Lisen as a sincere and hardworking public leader with ‘integrity’, ‘vast wisdom’ and a ‘kind heart’. Besides being an active politician, he served the people by translating, printing and re-printing books written by early American Missionaries in North East India, the condolence message stated. “His tireless voluntary services to the State government, Christian religion, societies and individual will be heartily remembered,” it added.   Extending condolences, John along with his family extended deepest sorrow and sympathy to the bereaved family in this hour of grief.
