The launch of Airtel present Hornbill National Rock Contest 2011 was held today at IG Stadium, with Dr. Chumben Murry , minister for Agriculture as the chief guest.
In his address, the minister said that “Winning is also important, but the spirit of participation is more important” and also congratulated all the participating band who are taking part in the rock contest.
G. Chishi Project Director, MTF gave the introductory of the Hornbill National Rock Contest, 2011, while Dr. Nicky Kire, MLA and Advisor MTF was also present at the launch.
Ten bands Sunep Assemble band(Nagaland) ,Agnostic(Assam), Salt and Light Travelling(Manipur) Final Surrender ,Bengaluru (Karnataka), In The Name(Nagaland),Grammy Winning Effort (New Delhi), Indigo Children( New Delhi), Dissected Souls (West Bengal), Stacy’s Penitence (Mizoram) and Hate blood (Manipur) took to stage on day of screening.
A total of 24 bands are taking part in the rock contest .The judges are Dr. Wabang Pongner ,Thejove Medeo and Deepti Unni from Rolling Stones Magazine, Mumbai.
There will be screening of the bands on December 5 with ten bands on stage and also on December 6 –four bands will be on stage and final declaration of finalist and the grand finales on December 7.
On all the days the gates will be open by 4.00pm at IG stadium and it will be a free, without ticket system. The week-long festival is part of the annual Hornbill Festival, the annual cultural extravaganza in Nagaland showcasing the rich Naga culture, organized by the state government’s Music Task Force (MTF), department of Youth Resources and Sports and the event is managed by XL.
