“Till a political settlement is brought about such crime will continue”, the Chief Minister said while addressing the one day winter session of Assembly.

Reiterating on the DAN government’s policy to maintain equi-closeness with all under-ground factions, Rio rebutted the Congress charge that DAN was a passive felicitator, while asserting that “we are active felicitator”.

Clarifying why he had asked the people to be ready to face any eventuality in event of break down of Ceasefire, Rio said that the facts must be told to the people. “We are concerned. So I asked people to be ready to face any eventuality”, Rio said while replying to the Congress query.

“We cannot run away from it. So I have met Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, K. Padmanabhaiah, Oscar Fernandes and other leaders in this regard”, Rio said.

The Chief Minister has instead asked the Opposition Congress to appeal to the UPA government at the Centre to expedite the peace process since it was started during the Congress regime.
