Lead Farmers trained on organic cultivation practices

PEREN, JULY 26 (MExN): A two-day farmers’ training was conducted at Hotel Tamzaipa, Jalukie Town on July 17 and 18, organized by North East Rural livelihood Project (NERLP) in collaboration with ATMA Peren.  

The attendees, who were Lead Farmers of villages, were trained on organic cultivation practices of vegetables – cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, tomato, tree tomato (tomarillo), french beans and radish.  

Resource persons from ATMA Peren, Akam Zeliang and Alonba Jamir, also emphasized on organic pest and disease management. The farmers were also trained on preparation of Neem based insecticide and fungicide by plants extracts.  

The training was attended by 26 farmers from 26 villages from all the four blocks, namely Jalukie, Peren, Tening and Ahthibung blocks.  

Chaired by Amos Pauzerang Newme, Coordinator Livelihood and Rural Marketing from NERLP, the training concluded with feedback of farmers from all the four blocks.
