Leaders resigning no impact on party – NPF

Dimapur, Nov 2 (MExN): The NPF Youth Wing asserts that the recent resignation of two of its central youth leaders – a fallout out of the CYF youth day controversy – would have no bearing on the position of the NPF. Rather, the development has strengthened the party especially Phek division.

“The Youth Wing deems it necessary to make clear that the resigning of two youth leaders have no impact in the NPF central youth wing setup whatsoever, rather it has paved the way to strengthen the party and Phek division in particular” the youth wing stated through its Press Secretary Achamo Kikon. It also affirmed steadfast support to NPF President Dr Shurhozelie and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

“Of late, the resignations of the two estranged NPF youth leaders namely Mr K Doulo, Working President and Neiko Akami, Convener of Legal Call have been widely covered in the local news which have been construed as a setback to the party. It may be appropriate to mention that the two leaders have resigned from the party on their own volition knowing fully well that to be an NPF leader one has to enjoy the full confidence of his/her own respective local units” the youth wing asserted and claimed that they “realized that they have to resign from the party immediately after ascertaining their own standing and position in their own unit (NPF Phek)”. To this, the central wing welcomed the decision and accordingly endorsed their resignation to the president for necessary action.

Also, the Wing expressed dismay over what it stated was the “misinterpretation” of Dr Shurhozelie’s statements by the resigned leaders. It was clarified that “the statement of the president was never intended to target any individual or community”. Time and again, the NPF has been reminding the general public that even as some “disgruntled people” attempts to “put some hurdles” all developmental initiatives would continue in full swing, it asserted and endorsed the statement of Dr Shurhozelie. “Unlike any other Indian national political parties, the NPF as a regional political party derives its strength and power from the grass root level. This is because the party represents the sentiments and wishes of the Naga people as a whole. Even within the party set-up and in all its overall functioning, the NPF maintains and exercises the true spirit of democracy in its full sense in which the voice and interest of the common people always reigns supreme” the Youth Wing asserted.
