Leadership of 14 Naga tribes of Nagaland urge Naga negotiators to come together

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 29 (MExN): The leadership of the 14 Naga tribes of Nagaland today called upon the Naga negotiators involved in the Naga peace talks to “come together” while simultaneously urging the Government of India to work towards bringing an early solution to the Naga issue.

A press release from Ao Senden president, Chubawati Longchar; APO vice president, KT Villie; and ENPO president, Kekongchim on behalf of the 14 Naga tribes of Nagaland noted that “the formal negotiations are over and now is the time for all negotiating parties to come together and sign an inclusive agreement for inclusive solution.

It stated that enduring peace in Nagaland is possible “only in a solitary stand of the two negotiating parties of Naga Political Groups.”

The leadership of the 14 Naga Tribes of Nagaland expressed concern that “deliberate unwillingness” of the negotiators to reconcile in one stand as Naga patriots could lead to a solution, “at its finality be converted into a mirage.”

“Such a turn of event will be too unfortunate and will never convalesce again no matter how flamboyantly Naga people would deny of our own erroneous doing,” it added. It appealed to the Naga negotiators to come together prioritising Naga interest, while doing away with “self righteous stance and pave way for realization of the desire of the Naga people.”

“Enduring peace must come to the people and whoever is the strength that claims to work to achieve that objective representing the people must be sensible to feel the pulse and desire of the people they claim to work for, else everything will be overturned in distrust,” the press statement said.

It meanwhile further asked the Government of India to work out a mechanism that will put the entire political process to a logical conclusion and to deliver peace and harmony to the entire North East Region without further delay.

“Solution is our topmost priority today and therefore any excuse or condition to delay the much awaited solution is against the interest of the people. The people of Nagaland are longing for a peaceful and lasting acceptable solution and such pursuit should not be at the cost of creating another bigger problem,” it said.
