Groupism and exclusivity dragging down the society

The primary objective of leadership must be inclusiveness as which every leader must aspire to achieve, Imnatoshi Longkumer Associate Pastor, Dimapur Ao Baptist Church (DABA) said today adding that this traits are losing out in our society.
He was speaking at an orientation programme of DABA Duncan Youth Fellowship leaders held here today under the theme, “For the benefit of people... (1 Cor. 9:19),” at the Church premise. Every organisations, including the church, there is a tendency form to the usual pattern of a groupism, which left out many people that does not conform to the convention, he added.
Instead of “theirs” or “them” we should try to inculcate the habit of togetherness and use “us” or “we” to include diverse characteristics of any organisation, Longkumer stressed quoting the Genesis 1.26 which reflects the inclusiveness of God’s creation.
Exclusivity and groupism, unfortunately, are dragging us backward and every human activities and organisations, including the church activities, are suffering from these ills, he added.
With the involvement of participants, he also demonstrated practically how people - consciously and subconsciously - tend to form groups, based on different labeling and pre-concept notions.
‘Make everyone fell welcomed’ in the organisation you lead, be aware of environment and actively engage with people in your organisation, Longkumer further advised.
At bad times and good times, we must engage with the people around us, he added.
Later through another demo, Longkumer showed how often a project or mission fails because we are often more concern with commanding rather involving personally.
Many of us are too smart to teach others but personally suffers from adjustment problems most of the times resulting in failure and disorientations, he added.
Reverting back to his theme of inclusiveness, Longkumer stressed the need to come out of the comfort zone and do something for the cause of others.
“How many times you have sacrificed your time and resources for the benefits of others selflessly? he posed to the fellowship youth leaders
To that effect, Longkumer said that leadership is not only leading but sacrificing and showing solidarity toward each other, and engaging positively with each individual.
It’s not about leading front but going backward to push the organisation to the front. Balance each other’s weaknesses through each other’s strength in order to the make the organisation vibrant, progressive and inclusive, he added.
