Chümoukedima, March 18 (MExN): The Department of Higher and Professional Education, Nagaland in collaboration with North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) is conducting a five-day national workshop on leadership development for college principals of Nagaland from March 18 to March 22.

In the inaugural programme, Dr Fr CP Anto, Principal NEISSR highlighted the challenges, opportunities, and approaches to the teaching and learning process, as well as the importance of such workshops for the betterment of colleges in Nagaland. 
The chief guest, Dr A Nshoga, Director, Department of Higher Education, spoke about the importance of connecting and implementing policies in higher education in Nagaland. 

Dr Nshoga explained how enlightenment can be achieved through proper training systems to provide good quality education to students. He emphasised the National Education Policy (NEP), which is a comprehensive framework that aims to transform the education system in India, impacting holistic development, skill-based learning, promoting critical thinking, and integrating technology in education, making learning more interactive and engaging. He stressed how the implementation of this policy has brought about significant change in the higher education system, marking a turning point in the history of India. 

Also Dr Nshoga highlighted the role of principals in higher education to build strong leadership, set a clear vision, foster a positive school culture, and inspire teachers, staff, and students. 

Prof Neeru Snehi, Professor, Department of Higher Professional Education at NIEPA, gave an introductory message about the programme and provided a brief history about NEIPA and its establishment in 1962 at the Assam Regional Center for Educational Planner and Administrators. She highlighted the main objective of the workshop, which is to address major concerns for educational learning. 

Prof Sudhanshu Bhushan, Head of the Department of Higher and Professional Education at NEIPA, spoke about the importance and need to promote leadership development and education learning in the northeast while fostering an environment free from bias and prejudice. He mentioned that it is crucial to prioritize inclusivity, empathy, and open communication.

Dr Ranjan Kumar Behera, Principal, Livingstone College, Dimapur delivered a vote of thanks. The inaugural programme was attended by 30 principals along with five guests.
