JALUKIE, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): A one day training of ASHA & Health Workers (Leprosy) for active case detection and regular surveillance was held on September 29 at Women Welfare Hall, Jalukie town.

Dr Ahu Sekhose, Joint Director, SPO, NLEP, in his welcome address said that leprosy is one of the oldest and earliest known diseases known to mankind. He stated that in the last 4to 5 years there is decrease in leprosy cases. 

He explained the kinds of leprosy and also how to detect and give treatment at the right time. Dr Ahu encouraged the ASHAs and said that they play an important role as ambassadors of the department. He motivated the health workers to work with zeal and dedication and create awareness in the community. 

Temjenjungla, Para Medical Worker (PMW) shared how to identify suspect leprosy cases.

Hokito, Non Medical Supervisor (NMS) provided training on regular household screening and format. The training concluded with a question hour. It was attended by ASHAs and NLEP staff, Peren. 

Dr G Viholi Sema, ZLO, Peren chaired the training programme and Dr Lanuakum, Deputy CMO gave the vote of thanks.
