LFI College activates Red Ribbon Club; blood donation camp held

Dimapur, February 12 (MExN): The Red Ribbon Club of Livingstone Foundation International College conducted a speech competition and awareness programme followed by a voluntary blood donation camp on February 10.

According to a press release, guest of honour, Dr Nounechutuo Miachieo, MD, pathologist at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) highlighted the importance of blood donation and also encouraged people to spread awareness in different ways. He said regular blood donation by a sufficient number of healthy people is needed to ensure that blood will always be available whenever and wherever it is needed. Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person – the gift of life, he said while appreciating the college for taking such an initiative.

As per the release, Lucy, President of Positive Network of People Living with HIV, attended the programme as special guest to share her experience. She also encouraged the participants not to discriminate HIV positive people and cited some ways to prevent HIV.

During the speech competition, Dekhingpi Sangtam won the first position, Kevin second and Hinoli V Sumi stood third.
The programme started with an invocation by Mekhriengunuo (Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology), and was followed by various activities, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dipika Agarwal (Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club).

Meanwhile, after the programme, the students headed to the Civil Hospital, Dimapur for voluntary blood donation. In total 11 donors which included the faculty members of the college opted for voluntary blood donation, the release stated.
