
Wokha, January 7 (MExN): The Lakhuti Humtsoe Khumshum held a two-day general meeting with various programme including medical camp, cultural extravaganza and fanfare on December 31, 2021 and January 1, 2022.
On December 31, community members participated in a ‘Run for Common Good’ marathon race during which Nagaland Transport Commissioner Elias T Lotha encouraged the participants to cultivate a sense of common good towards building the society and at the same time keep oneself fit and healthy, according to a press release from the LHK.
A general meeting was also held on the first day wherein speeches were delivered by members of various LHK units and other prominent community members. A medical camp for the sick and needy was also organised by a team of doctors led by Dr William Humtsoe, Dr Wilson Humtsoe, Dr Thungbemo Humtsoe and Dr Zulanthung Humtsoe and medicines were distributed free of cost, the release stated.
On January 1, all the male members of LHK, dressed in traditional attires, marched to the Lakhuti Public Ground as a way of remembering their ancestor's and seeking their blessings. The oldest member of the clan, 98-year-old Khonsao Humtsoe blessed and prayed for God’s wisdom and good health for all the clansmen.
This was followed by various cultural programmes and competitions during which five women groups from five khels participated, the release stated. A ‘variety show’ was also held in the evening with several cultural and entertainment performances. The variety show culminated with the main attraction of the evening, the popular DGP band.
