Department of Horticulture in collaboration with Chansu Organic Kiwi Producer Company Limited, Pfütsero sent the first consignment of Naga Organic Kiwi through Air Cargo from Dimapur to Delhi on October 7.

Dimapur, October 7 (MExN): The Department of Horticulture, Nagaland in collaboration with Chansu Organic Kiwi Producer Company Limited, Pfütsero sent the first consignment of Naga Organic Kiwi of 600 kg through Air Cargo from Dimapur to Delhi on October 7.
‘Chansu’ is a generic name comprising of 500 Kiwi farmers of Chakhesang, Angami and Sumi forming into Organic Kiwi Producer Company Limited. The project is implemented under MOVCD NER in three districts namely Kohima, Phek and Zunheboto. The expected production of Kiwi from the company during the current harvesting season (October-December) is about 300 metric tonnes, Meyasashi, Deputy Director & Marketing In charge, Department of Horticulture stated in a press release.
During September 2021, a series of hand holding trainings were imparted to the farmers on harvesting, sorting, grading and packaging of Kiwi for sending the produces to the National Markets.
Elaborate arrangements have been made for linking Nagaland kiwi to National markets. A & B grade Kiwi from three districts will be aggregated at Nagaland State Agriculture Marketing Board Complex at 4th mile Dimapur and kept in cold storage. Later it will be transported by refrigerated vehicle to Kolkata, Delhi and Bengaluru.
Three companies of Kiwi buyers have been engaged to market Nagaland Kiwi namely Big Basket for Kolkata & Bengaluru, Desai Agri Foods Sonepat and Suri Agro Fresh, New Sabzi Mandi, Azadpur, Delhi, it added.
