Wokha, December 27 (DIPR): An awareness programme on clean election was held at Lio Longidang Village on December 21 under the theme "My Vote For Development" with Director, Golden Crown Theological College, Rev. Dr. Nzan Odyuo as the main speaker.
The programme was jointly organised by the Village Council, the Church Bodies, Students Union and Youths of the village.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Odyuo urged the villagers not to indulge in selling or purchasing of votes in the coming election reasoning that it is the root cause of all the impasse in Nagaland.
Viewing that one does not gain anything by selling votes during election, he maintained that it was, therefore, better if all people can come up together in stopping the menace of selling and buying votes.
Pastor, Chudi Baptist Church Association, Mhathung Lotha also delivered a powerful message inspiring the voters to vote for development and progress for general welfare.
The Village Council, the Church, the studies and youth bodies and general populace of the village later took the pledge not to sell their votes and to uphold clean election.
Inspector, Taxes Department, Myingthungbemo Patton who chaired the event also exhorted the gathering to sincerely initiate, support and propagate clean election and be an ambassador for change in each and every nook and corner of Nagaland.
Later, the Nagamese movie "NANA - A Tale Of Us" was also screened as part of the clean election campaign.
