Lipokmar Tzudir to contest from LJP

Dimapur, February 7 (MExN): Former Director of North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) Lipokmar Tzudir will be the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP)’s candidate from 21 Tuli Constituency in the ensuing State Assembly elections. Tzudir today resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party to join the LJP, headed by Ram Vilas Paswan.

A press release from LJP State President RL Nelson informed that the Party national spokesperson Sanjay Saraf today formally welcomed Tzudir into its fold and announced his candidature.

Seeing the state of affairs of the state of Nagaland, it was crucial that such young and dynamic leaders should be elected to take the state of Nagaland forward, the spokesperson said during the induction, adding the Party has taken into account Tzudir’s “stature, persona and integrity.”

Tzudir, who joined BJP along with others on January 22, switched after his name and the constituency he was representing, were found missing from the list of BJP’s candidates for upcoming state assembly. The particular constituency was allotted to its pre-poll alliance partner Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party.

Incidentally, the LJP founder Ram Vilas Paswan currently holds the portfolio of Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution at the Centre, as it is part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by BJP. The Party mainly advocates the concerns of Dalits, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Backward classes and minorities, the release added.
