Morung Express News Kohima | December 22   Braving the cold December air, 3 bands including Upright Band (Kohima), Carved in Stone (Dimapur) and Project Psaltery (Kohima) played live music at West Road Mall, Jail Colony Kohima to spread Christmas cheer on Friday evening. An initiative of a group of friends, who believe that Christmas is all about giving, everything that went into making the street music possible were from free will donation by the members themselves, Beat Devices, Headlights, Unitex and well-wishers.   The event, simply but meaningfully labeled “The Gift” emphasized on the phrase “we give because we first received.” They shared the joy of Christmas through songs apart from a warm cup of coffee accompanied by homemade cupcakes to all passersby and those who joined to experience the warmth of the season through the event.   “This is also another reason for choosing the locality where it’s surrounded by undercover wine stores”, he pointed out.   Meanwhile, Ruth Nukhu Sasü, a member of the Group & a Music Instructor said, “We wanted to do this event to give God first and also share the Christmas cheer with people around. Through the gospel songs that we perform, we also want to direct people to what Christmas is all about.” She further noted that after the Hornbill festival, it is suddenly quiet and since anything to do with Christmas is sadly commercialized nowadays. This live music is simply to give and that all the bands are also willingly performing for free, she enlightened.
