Department of power clarifies

Kohima, May 22 (MExN):
Chief Engineer Department of power clarified to the demand of more power made by Wokha District by SSIEUW, stating that due to limited availability of power the department is not able to provide stable power through out the whole state for quite sometime. Notifying the general public, it said power from all sources is only about 25 MW against the requirement of 80 MV during off peak hours (day time) for the entire state and about 62 MV against the requirement of 110 MV during the peak hours (night time) and the reason being that at lean season, hydro power stations located in the Northeast from where most of the state’s power requirement is met are generating less power.  Chief Engineer also stated that the department is very concerned with the inconvenience caused to consumers including small scale industrial units but with shortage of power as explained, it is not possible to do away with load shedding. However it is also mentioned that power position is likely to improve only after the onset of monsoon and seek cooperation from all section of people.
