Dimapur, Nov 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union, Dimapur – while reminding that there are many capable local contractors – want them to have a “chance to compete with non-locals” for the uplift of the ‘Naga society’ since non-locals never invest in the state. The fault for giving importance to non-local contractors is of the ‘government departmental officers’
“I on behalf of NCSU unit Dimapur would like to point out that there are many capable Naga contractors in our state, why not give them chance to compete with non-locals” Mapu Imchen, President of the unit asked in a statement. “The local contractors will invest their profit money in our state for the (uplift) of the Naga society but non-local contractors will never invest their earning profit in our state” the unit reminded.
However, this is not the fault of the non-local contractors, it acknowledged. “It is the fault of high authority and government departmental officers (for) reasons best known by them. So please take commission from the local contractors to and give equal treatment as they give to non-local contractors and suppliers so that benefit will (go) to local contractors and our Naga people” he stated while calling upon all Naga contractors to unite and fight for their rights “because everybody know whichever ministers and officers are doing whatsoever for the benefit of non-locals”.
It also took note of the dealings between government departments and Mohan Singh & Co by “head office”. The Dimapur unit also extended its full support to the two head offices of NCSU/NGRC-I-CU Nagaland for taking action against the “flouting of rules”.
In a separate statement, the Zunheboto Contractors & Suppliers Union expressed support and appreciation to the head NCSU for serving an ultimatum to the state government for release of all liabilities due to the union. The Zunheboto unit extended its moral and physical support in the event the demand is not made, according to the unit’s President K Pukhato Sema and General Secretary Tokheho Kits.
