Longleng bids farewell to outgoing DC

Longleng, September 9 (MExN): Longleng district bid farewell to its outgoing Deputy Commissioner (DC) John Tsulise Sangtam by organizing a farewell programme and welcomed its incoming DC, Shayung Phom at DC’s Conference Hall on September 9.
A DIPR report stated that John in his farewell speech said that with the active cooperation of the Administrative officers, Government officers, Tribal bodies, Students leaders and NGOs of the district three elections were conducted peacefully in the district during his tenure.
He called on the new DC to accomplish some of the important task initiated during his period and exhorted the gathering to give full cooperation to the incoming DC Shayung Phom.
John lamented that he could not provide service to the people as expected by him due to heavy workload on elections preparation, constrain time and situations. He pointed out that welfare agencies like Health and Education needs to take extra care and make efforts for the people to push ahead. He appealed the gathered NGOs and civil societies to extend their cooperation to the administration and Government officers to have positive impact on the development of Longleng. He further thanked the people of Longleng for organizing the programme and felicitating him beyond his expectation.
Meanwhile, the new DC, Shayung Phom called upon the people of the district to extend their cooperation and asserted that the DC of the district alone cannot bring any change without the active involvement and support of the people. He urged the people not to hamper in development activities especially on road sector initiated in the district. He informed that the Government officers in the district will constantly need the support and cooperation of the NGOs and civil societies in every activity.
Shayung also asserted that in order to bring real transformation in the district we need to be a donor but not a receiver. In order to achieve in his assignment, he urged the people not to consider him as a local individual from the district but as one of the officer posted in the district to serve the people.
Rohbi Sangtam, EAC HQ spoke on behalf of the Administrative Officers while S. Hongpi Konyak, DPRO longleng and Ejei Phom, PA to DC spoke on behalf of the HODs and DBs respectively.
Short speeches were also proposed by the President Phom Peoples Council (PPC); the President, Phomla Hoichem; President Phom Students Conference (PSC); President Chamber of Commerce,;President Ward Union; President GB Union Longleng; Drivers Union and village council of Hukphnag, Orangkong and Bhumnyu village respective.
A special number was presented by Nyemphe Phom, LDA DC’s office. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by EAC HQ Ihoilung Chuilo and a mass benediction.
