DC sets March 2026 deadline, orders monthly progress reports

Longleng, May 17 (MExN): The verification of the ongoing construction of the District Hospital at Longleng was conducted on May 17.

The inspection was carried out in the presence of the MLAs of the 49th and 50th Assembly Constituencies, B Bangtick Phom and A Pongshi Phom. Also in attendance were W Manpai Phom, Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Chief Medical Officer, and Medical Superintendent, members of various Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), as well as the concerned contractor and engineers.

A press release from Media CMO office stated that during the course of the verification, both legislators expressed concern regarding the shortage of manpower and the apparent use of substandard construction materials. They also pointed out the slow pace of work, urging the contractor to take immediate steps to improve the quality and speed of execution.

The CSOs highlighted that although the project was sanctioned with a three-year completion timeline as per the Work Order, the current pace of progress is not in alignment with this schedule. Dissatisfied with the present status of the work, it was resolved that CSO representatives will conduct regular site inspections to monitor the progress moving forward.

The DC Longleng W Manpai Phom directed that the project must be completed by March 2026. He noted that the current work progress stands at 58% and further instructed that the concerned departments and engineering personnel submit monthly progress reports, starting from June 2025.

“The visit concluded with a collective resolution from all stakeholders to ensure that the project moves forward efficiently and is completed within the stipulated timeline while maintaining quality standards,” the release from the CMO office Longleng stated.
